Las Vegas – Las Vegas Interactive Marketing Association chairman Shawn Rorick recently announced to 1,200 members the launch of a multi-month iPod donation drive in support of Music & Memory https://musicandmemory.org/. Music & Memory helps elders in care facilities suffering from a wide range of cognitive and physical challenges find renewed meaning and connection in their lives through the gift of personalized music.
There are currently over 600 Music & Memory Care Partner Facilities in the US/Canada, but only one in Nevada. “After reviewing this combination of medical science and technology that has yielded significant results, it seems like a great fit for our local community of tech-media professionals,” said Shawn. “I believe our circles can help donate iPods to kick-start Southern Nevada’s participation in this initiative.” Providing a cache of iPods incentivizes Clark County care facilities to adopt the personalized music program offered through Music & Memory.
“Music is the best medicine for dementia,” according to Dan Cohen, founder and executive director of Music & Memory. This approach helps to improve both the resident quality of life, while improving staff morale. He adds that “the support of individuals and organizations like LVIMA make it possible to comfort our elders in a meaningful and immediate way.”
Rorick emphasizes that “we’ll ensure that all donations, whether iPod or monetary coming out of Las Vegas are aggregated exclusively to start-up facility programs here in Clark County with the help of Music and Memory representatives. It’s critical to contribute to patient well-being as well as their caregivers, whether professional or family.”
Since 2004 LVIMA has been establishing communications and hosting special events within the Las Vegas interactive marketing community. The membership base includes internet marketing directors, managers, publicists, search specialists, media buyers, account executives, developers, and advertising professionals. The organization has been specifically designed for those living, working and conducting business in Las Vegas http://lvima.com/.
